There’s just something about Manjushri. Could be all the gold, from the gold leaf to the hand painted 24 kt. gold face. He is always shown with a youthful face as well. But let’s face it .... it’s the sword. You know it is. Long before Jedi masters, Manjushri was wielding his fiery sword of liberation cutting through ignorance. He is among the most beloved Buddhas in Tibet. Only Guru Rinpoche and Chenrezig stand above him in popularity.

Buddhists appeal to Manjushri for intelligence, wisdom, mastery of the teaching, the power of eloquence and memory. He is always depicted with a sword raised over his head; a sword of liberation that cuts through ignorance. His other hand forms the teaching mudra. He is the great teacher of the Buddhas of past ages and of the future Buddha Maitreya. He is the spiritual friend of Bodhisattvas. So, all you aspiring Bodhisattvas out there, you would do well to give Manjushri’s Mantra.

First may we suggest a thangka or a statue of Manjushri. Meditate on him while you give his mantra: “Om Ah Ra Pa Tsa Na Dhih.” Ask for that sword to cut you free. Something good may happen.
