A wondrous series of miraculous appearances by the Blessed Mother, began in Mexico in the 1500's. These appearances began in an extraordinary way. A man named Juan Diego was given a vision of a beautiful young maiden as he traveled to the city on a cold winter’s day. A beautiful young lady appeared suddenly and asked him to carry her message and request to the town bishop. She gave Juan a miraculous sign of roses blooming in winter. He gathered the roses in his cloak to show the bishop. Stunned by her holiness, beauty and love, he overcame his reluctance to visit this important official. And as Juan Diego knelt before the bishop to deliver the gift of winter roses, his cloak unrolled, and the astonished bishop cried out in surprise!  The peasant’s cloak now bore the imprint of a miraculous painting of the heavenly mother.
